Motivation
Some models can show their thinking steps before answering. Hermes lets you set a reasoning level, from none to extra high. Higher levels take longer but give more thorough answers.
Concrete Example
You set reasoning to high for a tough maths problem. Hermes writes out each step before giving the final answer.

Like a teacher who shows full working on the board versus one who just writes the answer.
